An efficient engine

Four versions are available, divided into two powertrains with different qualities. The base, Big Bend and Outer Banks models all use Ford's well-balanced 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine.

It produces some 181-horsepower and 190-pound-feet of torque, and when mated to an 8- speed automatic transmission, it gets an economy rating of 8.9 L/100 km in combined mode. Its towing capacity is increased to 2,000 pounds with the appropriate package.

Designed for off-roading and more dynamic performance, the Badlands version features a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. In total, it boasts 250-horsepower and 277- pound-feet of torque for a 0-100 kilometre per hour time of less than 7 seconds. It can also tow up to 2,200 pounds when properly equipped.

The GOAT (Go Over Any Terrain) system allows you to select the driving mode best suits the conditions. Appropriately, all Bronco Sports come with standard 4WD. The more extreme adventure-oriented Badlands gets additional modes, Mud and Ruts, and better tires for rougher conditions and raised suspensions. It also adds Trail Control, an adaptive cruise control designed for off-roading.

Comfort and space

The occupants of the Ford Bronco Sport are not left out when it comes to space and comfort. The Bronco Sport's unique interior design is practical. The view forward is easy and easily dominates a square hood that poses no visibility concerns. The same is true for rear visibility. Even the smallest accessories in the cabin have been thought out to confirm the SUV personality of the vehicle: high-mounted air vents straddling the familiar 8-inch touchscreen, rubberized and grippable air vent adjusters, a spongy and soft-touch dashboard, and plenty of storage space make the cabin welcoming and comfortable.

Technology on the menu

Beyond space and comfort, the Ford Bronco Sport is distinguished by its abundance of onboard technology. Like all Ford SUVs, it is equipped with the Co-Pilot 360 safety package, which combines the key qualities of electronic driving aids. Other optional technologies round out the Ford Bronco Sport's safety offerings.

In terms of infotainment, the Bronco Sport maximizes the use of the SYNC3 system displayed on a large center screen. It is fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and offers FordPass connectivity.

Those who rely more on off-road use of their Bronco Sport will welcome the availability of track navigation and the optional 180-degree camera with front self-cleaning spray.
