A taste for choice

The Ford Expedition is available in a variety of ways, so you can choose what's right for you. Passionate about adventure and the great outdoors? The new Timberline version, with its larger physique, remarkable higher ground clearance and enhanced off-road capabilities, will be perfect for you.

Prefer to travel in a luxury vehicle? An Expedition Platinum will surprise you with the quality of its materials, the long list of options, and the undeniable comfort that you can feel in all seven or more seats, depending on the configuration.

In between these two versions, the large utility adds models like the XLT, Limited and Stealth Performance, the latter offering a more athletic look. The extended length Expedition Max is also available on the Limited and Platinum models.

Regardless of what you choose, however, the same powertrain is under the hood, though its capabilities vary depending on the setting. The 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 produces 375- horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque on most models. But the Platinum version gets a slight boost in power, reaching 400-horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.

Finally, the Timberline and Performance Stealth packages also add to their muscle, as the engine now develops 440-horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque! The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive is standard on all versions, including Terrain Management, which allows you to manage its operation according to the demands of the road ahead.

A complete interior

It is the interior that best represents the qualities of this large SUV. Its seats offer space and comfort to all occupants. The beauty is that for the front occupants, the heated seats offer multiple zones of lumbar support, making long rides better. You can even get massaging seats in the more upscale versions.

The second-row seats are also quite plush. The third-row seats are firm but still adequate for adult use, and access is made easier by the vehicle's configuration.

The dashboard is well thought out and offers good quality materials. It features easy-to-read gauges that can be customized to the driver's needs.

In the center of the console is a standard 12-inch touchscreen, with an even larger 15.5-inch screen available on higher-end versions. The latest version of the SYNC 4 infotainment system is housed in the Expedition, facilitating both smartphone compatibility and the use of voice commands. An optional 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system is available.

Even in the area of safety, the Ford Expedition breaks new ground with the presence of Co-Pilot 360, the sophisticated driver assistance package, as well as Ford Blue Cruise, a driving assistant that allows, on pre-established routes, the vehicle to drive itself.

Total cargo space of 104.6 cubic feet and a towing capacity of 9,200 pounds round out the qualities of a vehicle that can handle any situation.
